I toured for a year with a music ministry company, and it was a great experience, but when I was inside it I didn't realize how much I was growing musically. Then I came home, and a buddy of mine who had heard me play lots before I left was amazed by how much better I had gotten in a short time. I am sure it will be even more so for you.

No, I don't do music full-time. I do youth and young adult ministry at a church in Kelowna, but am involved heavily in the worship music ministry part of things too. I love what I'm doing, and it's great to have such a supportive congregation who is behind me both as an employee and a musician. It's a great place to be, although I get in the habit of worrying so much about the organization of things that sometime I forget to focus on the artistry. Whoops. I guess we all learn our lessons as we go, right?

It's a blast and so rewarding, though of course it's a very vulnerable experience, too! You asked what instruments I play. None, really. :( I play limited piano but try to avoid doing that in public as much as possible. :) I write my songs in my head of all places. It sure would be handy to be more proficient at an instrument but I was one of those lazy kids who gave up taking piano lessons way too young!

I tour a little bit here and there... haven't been to Ontario since I worked with CREW Ministries, though. That's a music ministry company that tours around Canada doing kids, youth, and concert ministry. I was with them 2003-2004.

I'm planning on going to the GMAC week in October, and hopefully learning how to put together a tour. The church I work for is very supportive of me getting out there and playing music, which is stellar, so it's definitely something I want to do more of.

So, what's it like going to school for music? Do you love it? Have you learned a lot?
